- Topic: Adjunct Ed Camp
Discussion: The first Ed Camp is scheduled for Thursday, April 21 from 5:30-6:30 on Zoom. Jeff will facilitate “Identifying JCCC Resources,” Shari will facilitate “Improving Student Experience,” and Rebecca will facilitate “Exploring Technology.”
Action: Jeff will get information to Farrell and coordinate how to get the information out to all Adjunct Faculty.
- Topic: Adjunct Orientation
Discussion:
- Develop a mentor program for new adjuncts
- Have focused session about the use of Canvas.
- Overview of general college information such as use of email, Info Hub, funding sources for conferences. etc.
- Session focusing on what are benefits that Adjuncts can avail themselves of.
- Explanation of how pay date’s work, i.e. timing and frequency.
- Session on the standard template for designing a syllabus.
- Adjunct Handbook review for other areas of importance that may not be mentioned here.
- Some type of Adjunct meet and greet, not necessarily funded by the college as much as creating the time and space for adjuncts to meet and develop connections with each other. This was a consistent item mentioned in the survey results.
There was some discussion about the idea of Adjunct Orientation flowing into the ACT program to create a substantial body of information to be a resource for new as well as existing adjuncts.
Action: Another meeting will be scheduled with Farrell and those interested in working on the Orientation.
- Topic: F22 Adjunct PDD/Welcome Back/Semester Kick-Off
Discussion: The event at the beginning of the semester should be in person. Invitations should go to all Board of Trustee members, division deans, Dr. Bowne, and Dr. McCloud. Coordination and planning will be between Adjunct Council and Faculty Development.
Action: This will be discussed more in April.
- The next whole Adjunct Council meeting will be Thursday, April 28 at 3:30 pm.
