Discussion: Discussion of wording for email to respond to Dr. McCloud’s directive to remove the minutes from the Adjunct Council InfoHub page
Action: Rebecca will send the email to Dr. McCloud on Friday
- Topic: Adjunct Class Cancellation/Reassignment Guidelines
Discussion: Discussion about recommended guidelines; whether the guidelines would make any difference in how class cancellations/reassignments are communicated; asking for civil communication should not be impossible
Action: More discussion needed
- Topic: synergizED 2023
Discussion: January 10, 2023 will be the date.
Action: Rebecca will email Elaine to request venue reservations; Content of event will be discussed at future meetings
Action: Jennifer will be available to assist Kim on January 10, 2023 to assist on the day of the event.
- Topic: Meeting Notes being sent out
Discussion: Ann mentioned that Professors Emeritus who teach as Adjunct Faculty are not listed on the Adjunct Faculty email list.
Action: More discussion about how include these Adjunct Faculty is needed.
- Topic: Mentoring update
Discussion: Rebecca has met with the individual who was interested in a mentor.
Action: Rebecca is willing to continue to meet with her.
- Topic: September 1, Adjunct Meet and Greet
Discussion: Ann was the only member of the Adjunct Council able to attend. She reported that there were 8 adjuncts there and a husband and wife. Overall, Ann indicated that there were good conversation and people seemed to enjoy the opportunity. In the future we discussed that it will be important for more than one member of the council be in attendance. Another recommendation agreed upon by members of the Council, is to switch the venue to the college. It will make it potentially easier for adjuncts to attend, particularly if someone has a class they need to teach towards the end of a meet and greet.
Action: We will follow up with Farrell to determine if there would be the option of providing snacks. The recurring theme of adjuncts feeling isolated at times did come up.
- Topic: Ed Camp
Discussion: Would like to have another ED Camp, possibly the week of October 17. Planning will need to start ASAP if we want to execute by that date.
Action: Kim will reach out to Jeff to inquire if he will be available to facilitate again. Topics need to be identified and format. Rebecca and Kim will discuss the next steps.
- Topic: Ann’s idea!
Discussion: Ann shared that there were a few individuals/chefs, who had graduated from the JCCC Culinary program and went on to own their own restaurant. Her suggestion was to create an opportunity to showcase their success and possible arrange outings to those locations for a dinner.
Action: Further discussion needed.
- The next meeting will be Thursday, October 6 from 3:30-4:30.
