Paul Tebbe Observatory

JCCC has an observing deck on the roof of the CLB building which is equipped with two permanently mounted 12-in telescopes and a hard mount for an additional telescope. The observing deck is used throughout the semester for general observing by students enrolled in Astronomy, ASTR 122. We also host a public viewing session once per semester called Evening With The Stars.

The main telescope used for observing is a 12-in reflecting telescope permanently mounted on an equatorial fork mount. This telescope is used with CCD cameras and has provided some remarkable images of the universe. In addition to the 12-in telescope, JCCC also has four other 8-in reflecting telescopes that can be placed on one of the two other hard mounts on the observing deck or placed on portable tripods.
