Metadata review on digital collections; integration into national collections

This has been the most frustrating of my goals. The staff, time, and knowledge required for this should probably have support of another full time librarian. That said there were notable contributions and accomplishments.

  • The Campus Ledger was torn apart and reassembled for more accurate metadata
  • The Fashion Collection has been paired down from hundreds of erroneous, blank documents to create a collection with 100% accessible documents, as well as a  move to de-duplicate some items, as well as connect stand alone pieces (i.e., a hat) to their full ensemble record.
  • John Russell contributed to add supplemental metadata to images in our Photography collection.
  • We were able to provide access for C2C Magazine in ScholarSpace, which allowed it to be harvested into Google Scholar along with the rest of our ScholarSpace content.
  • We’ve made contact with the Digital Public Library of America, but are in a holding pattern regarding if we could get on a schedule to integrate collections into theirs.
  • Upgrading to the cloud service has, in theory, led to better OAISTER/WorldCat integration.
