Canned food, donation
Food and clothing are basic needs that, for some, are not being met. This problem could be helped with donations. If you are doing a deep spring clean and have clothes to get rid of, Blessings Abound is just one of many businesses taking donations. If you can’t get rid of items within your home maybe consider making a money donation. In an article put out by KCUR, it is mentioned that a money donation is the most effective way to meet the needs of people right now. Due to Coronavirus, there is a dire need for blood donations. In an article put out by The Kansas City Star, it is mentioned that the Community Blood Center is no longer holding blood drive events but are taking appointments for donors. If you are in need of or can donate goods such as diapers, toothpaste/toothbrushes, toilet tissue, skin lotion, deodorant, soap, feminine hygiene items and more, consider visiting this non-profit. With restaurants closed, some employees are making even less than they were before. According to an article put out by Forbes, the minimum cash wage for tipped workers is $2.13 in 15 states which puts the restaurant community at risk. It is a tough time for Individuals that rely on their art for income since most venues, studios, galleries, etc are closed many are struggling to make ends meet. At Unicorn Theatre, all shows are canceled. Donation sites such as The Foundation for Contemporary Arts is providing relief grants to artists.
