Do you have a favorite sports team at Johnson County Community College? Do you want to show support for that team? JCCC’s Basic Needs Center is challenging you to “vote” for your favorite team by donating non-perishable foods.

The center is accepting common non-perishable foods, as well as international foods, cleaning supplies, school supplies and body products. For a more detailed list, check out the Student Basic Needs Cav Cupboard Wish List on Amazon.

Each donation counts as one vote for basketball, baseball and softball, volleyball, soccer, or the dance team. And of course, you may “vote” as much as you like. Up until Oct. 13, donations may be dropped off at the following locations: first floor of COM, GEB room 264, and first floor of MTC.

Throughout the drive, a leaderboard will be displayed at each location with updates on the number of votes received for each team. As of Oct. 7, the leaderboard shows 186 donated items, and shows volleyball in the lead with 52 “votes,” followed by basketball with 42, soccer with 38, baseball/softball with 29, and dance with 29 “votes.”
