The JCCC Cavaliers softball went 1-1 in a seven inning double header versus Park University on Oct. 8.

The Cavaliers lost the first game 6-2, giving up three runs in the first inning. Jordan Harrison pitched all seven innings, and had four strikeouts on the day. The team had a combined four hits, including a two run double from designated hitter Hannah Archdekin in the first inning.

During their second bout, the Cavaliers fared far better, stomping Park University 9-4.

In the second inning, third baseman Sydney Christiason brought home two runners with a line drive triple to the left field fence.

During the fourth inning, first baseman Deja Gardenhire took three balls and six fouls from Park University’s pitcher, before knocking the tenth pitch over the left field fence leading to a one run homer.

“I knew the pitcher was gonna [throw] inside, so I really just focused on staying inside, and to make sure I’m getting my hands through,” Gardenhire said, “I think that worked out pretty well.”

The Cavaliers put up another two runs in the fifth, and another four runs in the sixth inning. Center fielder Eve Morris caught a linedrive to end the game in the seventh.

The softball team will play another double header on Oct. 15, against MidAmerica Nazarene University.
