Johnson County Community College is adopting Canvas as our new learning management system (LMS), which will eventually replace Desire2Learn (D2L). We will be communicating with you over the coming weeks and months about how you can prepare for this transition, and more information will be added to this page as it becomes available.
Steps to Begin Teaching from Canvas
Step #1 Request a Canvas source course or migration from D2L to Canvas
Step #2 Review the results of your course migration after confirmation email is sent.
Use the Canvas Conversion Chart http://blogs.jccc.edu/canvas-conversion-chart/ to review what specific tools from D2L successfully converted and which items will need revision.
We also know of specific issues in the migration from D2L to Canvas that you may need to review and make adjustments.
(Note – some course may require different approach in the design process – Contact the Educational Technology Center for questions)
Step #3 Review the Quality Review Checklist for Online Courses
The process of moving to a new LMS system would be the best time to review how your newly migrated course scores with the nationally recognized OSCQR Rubric. http://commons.suny.edu/cote/course-supports/oscqr-rubric/
(For additional support on how to enhance your course design – Contact the Educational Technology Center)
Step #4 Copy your source course or migrated course to production course for the beginning of the semester
Copy One Canvas Course to Another Canvas Course – https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10288-415257077
Review the Instructor Canvas Checklist to make any final adjustments for the semester.
