Intergenerational Model United Nations

Wednesday October 12, 2016 the JCCC Model United Nations are hosting an intergenerational ModelUN on the JCCC campus in room OCB 100 in conjunction with the JCCC Collaboration Center. Lite refreshments will be served.  The event will be held from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. with 6:00-6:30 p.m.  registration and event is set to end by 8:45 p.m.

This unique introductory experience will offer the chance for experienced and novice delegates alike to participate in a simulation to understand and appreciate the world of diplomacy, negotiation, and decision making.  Delegates will have the chance to prepare draft resolutions, develop strategy, negotiate with allies and adversaries and challengers, and engage on the topic while utilizing and enacting the UN’s operating procedure.  Intergenerational MUN will simulate the United Nations committee the Economic and Social Council.  Delegates will break out to caucus, or informally debate with their colleagues to collaborate, negotiate, and draft formal resolutions for presentation to the full committee.

The Intergenerational experience is meant to cultivate international understanding, life skills, and the attitudes necessary for responsible and active global citizenship.  Most of all, Intergenenerational is a chance to get together to intimately understand and appreciate, through reenactment and compromise, the importance and the challenges that delegates in the United Nations face. Anyone between the ages of 16-116 who has a commitment and desire to become globally engaged on a local level is welcome to attend.
