A plea from a popular account on Twitter gives advice on the responsible and ethical use of news sources and research on social media. The advice holds just as true for any use of research in writing. To many of us trust headlines or clickbait titles, especially if it confirms our own bias. We have to read and evalutate sources to address bias and credibility issues. We have to read everything critically and confirm dates.
I also applaud the call for discipline in the use of quotation marks. Only direct quotes should be quoted, and quote marks indicate VERBATIM what was said. Anything else is dishonest.
