HCIS Career Paths, Job Titles and Search Strategies

Search Strategies

Make your job search as easy and productive as possible by using JCCC and HCIS resources.

Start by reviewing JCCC’s Career Development Center (CDC). You have access to the resources of the JCCC CDC as a JCCC HCIS student and also as an alumni.

As you start your job search, be sure to:

  • Enter your health IT job search at the right skill level.
  • Review job descriptions and be sure you meet most of the qualifications listed.
  • Complete your HCIS LinkedIn Profile to include your JCCC HCIS coursework and experience.
  • Only use an updated health IT resume.
  • Tailor your resume and cover letter to reflect the qualifications in the job description.
  • Remember, the list of qualifications in a job description just an employer’s wish list. You do not need to meet all of the qualifications to be considered for a position.
  • Check the JCCC HCIS LinkedIn page for job postings every Friday.
  • Attend Career Fairs to learn about potential employers and the local industry.

HCIS is part of JCCC Computer Science Information Technology Division (CSIT).

CSIT sponsors a reverse career fair every Fall & Spring semester. Dates are announced via stumail, Canvas announcements and on HCIS LinkedIn.
