All of these messages were written by Johnson County Community college students who attended our Safe Spring Break event on campus during the Spring 2015 semester.  All students who were invited to write words of encouragement to those recovering from alcohol or substance abuse enthusiastically created their own personal message to you.

Stay around positive people!

Stay strong. You can do it.  Life is fun and worth more when you work for it.

You’re love. No matter what.

Honestly, I don’t know exactly what you’re going through, but I can tell you that you’re never alone; God will always be there. Keeping you in my prayers.

The essence of all growth is a desire to change for the better coupled with an unremitting willingness to shoulder whatever responsibility this entails.

Trust your friends and family to help.

You can find a solution out through the Twelve Steps one day at a time.

Congratulations on taking this step to improve your life. God loves you and has a plan for you.  I will be praying for you.

Winners don’t use drugs.

Stay safe and know you have people here for you.

What is 2 to 3 weeks of torture compared to a lifetime of comfort and freedom.

Keep going! You can do it!

Every day sober is a day your substance has no control! Be strong and love yourself!

There was an old TV kids’ show host, Mr. Rogers who always said” “I like you just the way you are! You make everyday a special day just by being you!”  He’s right, y’know!

Cheer up! You can do it!

Believe in yourself and believe in God! He will take you where you need to go!

STOP and THINK before you DRINK!

Being sober is so much cooler than worshipping the porcelain altar! Be cool!

Reach out to someone! Having someone on your team will help you succeed!

Good things come to those who wait!

Everyone deserves a 2nd chance! Hang in there it gets better!

It takes time and it’s a lifelong recovery process. Just try.

You are enough! You are more than your addiction.  You can beat this.  One day at a time, one step at a time.  Keep going – you are worth it.

Addiction is not worth it. Being sober gets better.

You can do it! You will when you believe.

Each day is a new opportunity for a fresh start.

You are not alone. Your battle is real, but we are here to help you fight it.

Getting drunk won’t solve your problems.

No matter how imperfect you may be, or how many mistakes you have made. . . God loves you and believes in you to be the best person you can be.

Alcohol is very bad for your body. Be kind to your body.

You are not alone and help is wherever you ask for it.

You are a good person who’s made bad decisions, but those bad decision do not have to define you!!! We do recover!

Listen as your day unfolds. CHALLENGE what your future holds.  Try to keep your head up to the sky.  Love will save the day.

Things do get better.

Life is messy, there will be ups and downs. Focus on who you want to be in the future and hold on to it.  Strive for it every day and Never give up!

Recovery takes time. Be patient and love yourself.  Self-forgiveness is the key.  Keep your head up.

Your worst decisions don’t represent your humanity.

The decisions you make today will define your tomorrow. Make good ones!

Stay strong! ! I know that you can do it! !

Ask for help and go to recovery meetings.

You’re not the only person going through it. Keep your head up!  You will find your way!

Take deep breaths, and take it one day at a time. We believe in you.  YOU GOT THIS.

When you feel like you aren’t going to make it, break your goal down, as far as 1 minute. You can do anything for 1 minute.  Then 2 minutes.  The next thing you know, it will be hours; days; years….

YOU CAN DO IT!!! Stay positive.

ONE DAY AT A TIME.

You will get through this. Just have hope!

It takes courage to make a change. You are worth it.

YES!!

You are a worthwhile and valuable person. You don’t need substances to increase your self-worth!

Life is a journey. Just keep moving forward . . .
