Summer is almost here, and the JCCC\u2019s Police Department has a few recommendations to assure that you have the safest summer possible.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

C<\/span>rime Prevention Officer Dan Robles gave us his summer safety tips.<\/span><\/p>\n

Be sure to look out for yourself as well as for others.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u201cWhether traveling near or far, remember to keep your safety and the safety of others one of your priorities. When out and about, use the buddy system and watch out for each other,\u201d Robles said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Always make sure that you are aware of your surroundings, and share your plans with others.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u201cCriminal opportunists take advantage of people who do not appear to be aware of their surroundings,\u201d Robles said. \u201cLet people know where you are going especially when traveling in a car and what time you will arrive. [That way] if something happens like your car breaking down or other emergency, help can be sent your way.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Always be prepared.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u201cKeep your cell phone charged, your car full of gas, or fully charged,\u201d Robles said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Be careful when staying away from home.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u201cWhen staying in a hotel near or far, always lock the hotel door using the second door lock,\u201d Robles said. \u201cUse the door viewer if someone knocks at the door. If you don\u2019t recognize the person, don\u2019t open the door.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Robles wants you to keep all of these things in mind when traveling.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThinking ahead and planning with safety in mind can help make for a more enjoyable and safer vacation experience,\u201d Robles said.<\/span><\/p>\n
