With the postseason approaching, the Johnson County Community College men\u2019s soccer team is carrying confidence, focus and belief that their hard work will pay off.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur mindset going into [the] postseason is positive,\u2019\u2019 said sophomore midfielder Mike Bernable. \u201cWe\u2019re going into every game with confidence, but playing every game like it\u2019s our last because it could be if we don\u2019t play our game and our style. After the little break the coach gave us, we feel refreshed and very prepared to take on any challenge that comes our way.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

Bernable said the team\u2019s success comes from their unity and energy on the field.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur biggest key to success this season has been the energy that we bring to the field as a team and the chemistry we built in such a short time,\u2019\u2019 he said. \u201cWe became one family, and that\u2019s helped us gut out tough games.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

For sophomore defender Ben Points, the mindset is simple: win or die trying.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not preparing differently from the regular season\u2013just the same mindset to keep working hard.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

He also credited his teammates for their consistency and commitment in training.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust showing up to every training session and giving it my all,\u2019\u2019 he said. \u201cEveryone\u2019s worked so hard, and it will feel like it\u2019s all paid off if we can make a deep run.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

Points highlighted his teammate, Peyton McAwley, for his impact this season.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeyton McAwley has really stepped up,\u2019\u2019 he said . \u201cHe\u2019s been a consistent starter for us all season.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

The men will open their postseason run against Kansas City Community College on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m., and both Bernale and the points agreed that this team is ready.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would mean everything to us to make a deep postseason run,\u201d Bernale said. \u201cWe\u2019re excited and ready to start making this postseason run.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
