That is exactly what is at stake on Wednesday for the JCCC basketball programs, currently a combined 57-0.

Before Tournaments Tip Off, The Cavs Women Have Another Masterpiece to Finish

The JCCC’s women’s basketball team is one win away from making history. A second-straight dominant season is culminating in an eye-opening 29-0 record heading into their final regular-season game at Allen County Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 25.

This past Saturday, Feb. 21 the Cavaliers soundly defeated Neosho County Community College, 95-53, behind a triple-double (27 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists) by guard Layla Scott. She also added 5 steals.

The win sets up JCCC’s biggest game of the year to this point —a chance to complete a second-straight undefeated regular season. In fact, in the past two seasons the Cavs have lost one game, an opening match of last year’s regional tournament. They went on to win the national championship as an at-large bid. They have not lost since March 7, 2025.

Following the regular season game against Allen, the Cavaliers will head into the postseason with high hopes of erasing the one bad memory from the past two seasons. From March 6-7, the Region 6 tournament will commence at Kansas City Kansas Community College’s Fieldhouse.

Each district champion automatically gets a bid to the national tournament, but a loss will not mean disqualification for the Cavs. Four at-large selections await after the tournament. I am going to bet they have no interest in waiting to hear their name called this year.

The Cavaliers are a heavy favorite to win their region and grab themselves a bid of their own. In the meantime, they have history to make this Wednesday.

– Tysen Godbold

JCCC Men’ Basketball Have Perfection In sight, Then It’s tourney Time

First things first–If the JCCC men’s basketball team (28-0) wins this Wednesday, they will complete the first undefeated season in their history, according to the JCCC Men’s Basketball Media Guide.

With a dominant 97-59 win over Neosho County to stay perfect, only one more test remains for the Cavaliers before history is completed. But the celebrations will be short, because the regional tournament quickly follows.

Now is a good time to take a look at the Region 6 Tournament that starts on March 2 at home, and ends with the district championship on March 7 at Kansas City Kansas Community College’s’s Breidenthal Court.

Last year’s results left a bad taste in the Cavaliers’ mouths as they lost on their own home court in the final by one point to the KCKCC Blue Devils. A poignant task for revenge is at stake as the Cavaliers have a golden opportunity to get revenge on their rivals’ home court.

The winner of the final games gets an automatic bid into the national tournament, with four at-large selections being made of teams that did not win their district tournaments. Make sure to get your tickets for the district tournament.
