JCCC Baseball Off To Second-Best Start In Program History\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Cavaliers baseball is as hot as a Kansas summer, with a record of 18-2 and a 12-game win streak before losing their second game against Iowa Western Community College on Friday, then taking two-of-two on Saturday. Before the face-off against IWCC, the Cavaliers were ranked No. 4 <\/a>in NJCAA Division 1.<\/p>\n

The entire team has performed at a high level, but key players have been prominent in the success. Freshman utility player Ryan Bradford<\/a> was selected for NJCAA Player of the Week. In the series against Pratt Community College, Ryan hit 9-16 (.667) , including three doubles and five home runs. Freshman pitcher Ashton Nance<\/a> also made an impression in the final game of the series against Pratt. Nance allowed one hit in five shutout innings, striking out six. That improved Ashton’s record to 4-0 on the season as a starter.<\/p>\n

The Cavaliers will face off with Highland Community College<\/a> in a four-game series on Thursday, March 5 and Saturday, March 7. They meet up on March 5 at Highland Community Ball Park<\/a> for two games. The last two games on the 7th will be played at home for the Cavaliers. Chiefs Are Ready For Their Bounce-Back Season<\/b>
\nSince JCCC doesn\u2019t have a football team, and there is no Super Bowl title to relish for a second straight year, all football lovers on campus can only look to the NFL Combine<\/a>. And after a disappointing season, the Kansas City Chiefs are looking at an especially important offseason.<\/p>\n

Patrick Mahomes\u2019 recovery<\/a> from a devastating ACL tear is out of Head Coach Andy Reid\u2019s control, but the first issue that he could solve was the offensive play-calling. While much-maligned offensive coordinator Matt Nagy was walking out the door<\/a>, Reid replaced him with Eric Bieniemy. Bieniemy was their offensive coordinator from 2013 to 2022 and is a motivational play-calling guru who helped to spur on the start of the Chiefs’ dynasty.<\/p>\n

Before the start of the offseason, cap space was a major problem for the Chiefs as they ranked 25th in the league with negative $10 million in cap space. Their first move was to restructure Patrick Mahomes’ contract for 2026,<\/a> which freed more than $43 million of their cap space.<\/p>\n

Last week, the Chiefs cut defensive lineman Mike Dana<\/a>. During his five seasons (2020 to 2025), he recorded 21.5 sacks amid two Super Bowl wins. This move freed up $9 million in cap space. The offseason is just beginning, so stay ready as it unfolds.<\/p>\n
