On the last Wednesday of April, individuals are encouraged worldwide to wear denim. But why denim, you may be asking?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Denim Day began in Italy in the 1990s to support survivors of sexual assault. The idea of the day was created after the verdict of a rape case was overturned due to the victim\u2019s jeans, so the women of the Italian parliament wore denim to support the survivor, and all survivors of sexual assault. In observance of Denim Day, JCCC\u2019s SART & DART team will be hosting an event on April 22, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., in the COM Plaza.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll have a tailgate tent. We have a photo booth opportunity where people can take photos with jeans. They also have some goodies and giveaways,\u201d Mo Rammel, Coordinator of Student Life, said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

They will also have a whiteboard with written messages and resources for if students are ever in that situation.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c[Printing services] made us some awesome pairs of jeans out of foam board, and they\u2019re going to be like yard signs that say Denim Day, so they\u2019ll be on the hill for the whole week,\u201d Rammel said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To show support, be sure to wear Denim on April 22, on JCCC\u2019s Denim Day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
