National Library Week is April 19-25.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ala.org\/conferencesevents\/celebrationweeks\/natlibraryweek\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">American Library Association<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, this week is an \u201cannual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries and library professionals play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Here are some ways that you can help celebrate library week:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Stop by your local library and bring a friend.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Help a friend sign up for a library card.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Explore something new at your local library: a new book, program, class, or even a conversation.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This year&#8217;s Chair is Mychal Threets, \u201caward-winning librarian, author, and new host of Reading Rainbow,\u201d according to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/friendsofjcl.org\/nlw2026\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Friends of Johnson County Library<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Billington Library is holding events this week to help celebrate. Here&#8217;s what you can look forward to the rest of the week:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Wednesday, April 22: in LIB 204, there is a From the Archives, JCCC\u2019s first mascot event, from 12 p.m. &#8211; 1 p.m. One of JCCC\u2019s first alumni and the creator of the mascot will do a painting reveal of the first-ever campus mascot.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Friday, April 24: an AI and Translation: Anime, Manga &amp; More event will be held in LIB 204 from 12 p.m. &#8211; 1 p.m.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Every event hosted by the Billington Library this week is free and open to everyone in the community, with snacks and refreshments provided.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Friends invite you to find your joy this week and \u201cvisit a branch, thank a library worker, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/friendsofjcl.org\/join-friends-of-johnson-county-library\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">join the Friends<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, support our advocacy work, or stop by the Book Nook.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Find Your Joy!\u00a0That is the theme of this year&#8217;s National Library Week.
