Many are on the hunt for summer jobs, and JCCC has the resources and opportunities to help secure meaningful work.

Students have a ton of tools available. JobLinks is a free job and internship database provided by the center for JCCC students, alumni and employers. JobLinks can be found on the JCCC website.

Another key resource is the Career Development Center Canvas course, which provides a wide range of jobs for students.

Every week, the Career Development Center publishes a ‘Weekly Job Digest.’ They highlight new opportunities gathered from employers and community partners. This weekly update helps make sure students don’t miss out on positions that might be a perfect fit.

Career Development Coach Lori Humphrey emphasizes the importance of using these supports intentionally.

“The biggest piece is to identify opportunities. It’s about making sure their application materials reflect the skills needed in the job,” Humphrey said. “Here at the Career Development Center, we can help them review materials, making sure they’re putting their best foot forward. We’re always happy to be that support.”

JCCC students can explore a wide range of summer jobs based on their interests and availability. Here is a list of companies actively looking to fill positions this summer:

Fun, Active & Seasonal Jobs

Trident Ventures Lifeguard

TurnUp Youth Activism Remote Internship

BRK Through Team Member

Wonderland Camp Counselor

On-Campus Jobs

Physics Tutor

Biology Tutor

Math Tutor

SRC Tutor

Studio Arts Technician

Admissions Ambassador-Cav Leader

Child Care Aid

Classroom Assistant

Resume Builders & Career-Focused Roles

Pharmaceutical Development Technician Intern

State Farm Account Manager

Data Center Technician

These employers offer student-friendly roles designed to work around your class schedule. If you don’t see a position that fits, all job postings can be found on the Canvas shell for the Career Development Center and are updated frequently.

While these jobs are open to all students, they can carry a greater impact for international students balancing work authorization, academic demands and building connections in a new country.

Reshika Mahat, an international student from Nepal, is in her first year at JCCC and is a current on-campus employee. Mahat has been working on campus for two semesters and has experience in the cafes of the Student Center and in the Billington Library.

“As an international student, I can only work on campus, so I already had that mindset coming to the college,” Mahat said.

Mahat shares the importance of building meaningful relationships.

“Just make connections. It’s really important to talk to as many people as you can, and don’t limit yourself from talking to people.”

Mahat has been selected for the position of Student Life Ambassador and plans to start within the next few months. She is looking forward to the new position and hopes it will teach her to become a better leader in our community.

Similarly, Man Hoih, another international student from Myanmar who moved to the U.S in December 2024, has been extended a Student Life Ambassador position at the Engagement Desk this summer.

Hoih mentions the many benefits of working as an on-campus employee. Some include tuition reimbursements, free credit hours, free on-campus gym and more.

“I see at JCCC, especially in student life, they are so focused on leadership. You won’t get that in other organizations. Here it is more than just what you get paid and your benefits.” Hoih said.

She also notes that many students are unaware of the opportunities available.

“If you’re in college, look for work, because I was the only one in class who was working on campus,” Hoih said. “Nobody knew about the jobs at JCCC.”

“In the leadership program, we learned through speech and words, but now I have to learn through action what leadership looks like in a real job environment,” Hoih said.

That is exactly what Selma Iguider, a Student Life Ambassador from Morocco, has embodied during her time working at JCCC.

Iguider has worked on campus for two semesters, and said many students don’t realize how much opportunity exists within campus employment until they are already enrolled.

“This is literally our only hope to make money,” Iguider said.

For international and immigrant students, the International and Immigrant Student Services (IISS) office is in COM 306 and is a huge resource for guidance and support.

Across these experiences, opportunity and leadership stand out as key factors. JCCC is a powerhouse of resources full of flexible, accessible jobs that not only support students financially but also help them build skills, confidence, and leadership experience.

With resources like JobLinks, the Career Development Center, and the on-campus employment programs, students have numerous pathways to find meaningful summer work. Whether it’s on campus or beyond, JCCC can help you get there.
