Women\u2019s volleyball to play first round of tournament at home after big win<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s official: Johnson County Community College\u2019s very own No. 5-ranked women\u2019s volleyball team claimed the No.<\/span> 2 seed for the upcoming <\/span>Regional 6 tournament<\/span><\/a>, playing at home for the first round after a 25-14, 25-17, 25-19 <\/span>win against Highland Community College<\/span><\/a> (22-14) on Thursday evening.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Cavs set the stage for the 3-0 victory, posting a .323 team hitting percentage with an ultimate total of 46 kills, with freshman middle hitter <\/span>Sydney Rogokos<\/span><\/a> responsible for 12, joined by a noteworthy hitting percentage of .688. Don\u2019t forget freshman <\/span>Ashlynn Wilkowski<\/span><\/a> and sophomore <\/span>Ava Esser<\/span><\/a>, each with 10 kills, as well as <\/span>Brooke McCabe<\/span><\/a> with 9 kills and 5 blocks. Complementing the offense, 43 total digs displayed nothing but a persevering defense.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Another win joined the sweeping victory, this time against McPherson College’s JV volleyball team (20-9-3) by a score of 3-1 Saturday afternoon, resulting in an overall 28-4 record and a 7-1 record in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Only one Jayhawk Conference game remains on Wednesday, Oct. 28, against Fort Scott (9-25) on home turf before the Cavs aim for the win at the Region 6 Tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 4.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Women\u2019s soccer players of the week now look to postseason\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Women\u2019s soccer wrapped up their regular season on Saturday, Oct. 17, posting a fitting victory against Southeast Community College (0-11) with a stunning score of 18-0.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Sophomore forward\/midfielder <\/span>Flo Rigby<\/span><\/a> and freshman goalkeeper <\/span>Lexie Hopkins<\/span><\/a> secured <\/span>KJCCC D-II Player and Goalkeeper of the Week for week 9<\/span><\/a>, with Rigby earning her fifth hat trick and ninth multi-goal match of the season. She\u00a0heads into playoffs with a whopping 70 points. It is the third time both the player and the goalkeeper have been nominated this season.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>The women\u2019s team will now enter the 2026 postseason as the No. 2 nationally ranked team, as well as holding tightly to their now fourth consecutive Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division II championship. Now comes the waiting game for the announcement of the regional tournament seeding.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s soccer to play upcoming playoff opener\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Men\u2019s soccer enters post-season with a playoff opener on Wednesday, Oct. 28, against Pratt Community College at 7 p.m. at the Bill Keller Family Sports Complex in Pratt, KS.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Their regular season ended with a 2-2 draw on Sunday, Oct. 18 against Southeast Community College (3-6-1), securing Cavaliers midfielder sophomore <\/span>Khoi Woods’<\/span><\/a> second straight nomination to the <\/span>KJCCC D-II Men’s Soccer Players of the Week for week nine<\/span><\/a>, as well as goalkeeper freshman <\/span>Abe Renze\u2019s<\/span><\/a> second award of the season.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
