KCK Community College Stuns Cavs Women\u2019s Soccer<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Crosstown rivals Kansas City Kansas Community College stunned the No. 1-seed JCCC Women\u2019s Soccer team on Sunday, Nov. 1. The Blue Devils won the 2026 Region VI\/IX DII Women’s Soccer Championship by beating the Cavs 5-4 in penalty kicks after 110 scoreless minutes between the two teams.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Cavs had 25 shots on goal, <\/span>according to the JCCC athletics box score<\/span><\/a>, but KCK goalie Kadence Watts withstood the heavy load. The Cavs\u2019s goalkeeper Josie Klausmeyer also minded a clean sheet through regulation and the first overtime.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Just three weeks ago, JCCC beat KCK 8-1 at the campus soccer complex. Despite losing the automatic bid to nationals, the season is not necessarily over for the 18-2-1 Cavs. The <\/span>NJCAA Division II National Championship<\/span><\/a> tournament, played Nov. 15-21 in Huntsville, Ala., includes four at-large bids. Given <\/span>JCCC #2 national ranking<\/span><\/a> at the end of the regular season, chances are good that a slot awaits them.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s Soccer Ends Season with 1-0 Loss<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A goal at the 70-minute mark was all Pratt Community College needed to edge JCCC Men\u2019s Soccer 1-0 last Wednesday evening. The defeat cut the Cavs postseason short and <\/span>concluded an 8-6-4 season<\/span><\/a>. The stats told the story of a rivalry match with everything on the line, including 15 saves combined between the two goalies and six yellow cards.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the KJCCC Conference Tournament Final on Saturday, Neosho County Men\u2019s Soccer punched their ticket to the national tournament with a 3-1 victory over Pratt.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Volleyball Gets Ready for Regionals Opener vs. Highland<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Just as soccer\u2019s regional tournaments end, volleyball\u2019s begins. The No.5 nationally ranked Cavs face Highland at home on Wednesday at 6 p.m. They ended the regular season 29-4 overall and 8-1 in conference play.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Oct. 22, JCCC <\/span>dominated Highland 3-0<\/span><\/a> behind a well-rounded attack of four players with 9 or more kills on 22 combined assists from <\/span>Kamryn Hinnenkamp<\/span><\/a> and<\/span> Campbell Chabot<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s Basketball Tips Off\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

JCCC Women\u2019s Basketball extended their regular season winning streak to 95 on Saturday with a 102-37 victory over Central Community College. The game included a 66-point second half downpour, led by five different Cavs with double-digit scoring nights. Sophomore <\/span>Joycelyn Moore<\/span><\/a> came one rebound and one assist away from a triple double, ending the game with 12 points, 9 boards and 9 assists in 22 minutes of play. The two teams play here again on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before the Cavs host Iowa Lakes Community College Friday night at 5 p.m.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Men\u2019s Basketball team did not fare quite as well, ending a 42-game winning streak against Rock Valley College on Saturday. Shooting was the culprit, with Cavs going 5-22 from three and making 32.2% overall. Ben Allen led the Cavs with 18 points and Abdoulaye Kante contributed 10 points and 11 rebounds.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The men are back in action here on campus both Friday at 7 p.m. against Iowa Lakes and Saturday at 6 p.m. against Jefferson College.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
