Regular fitness activity and appropriate nutrition are core components of the 2019-2020 wellness campaign. Put these activities on your calendar:

Map Out Your Wellness on Campus! November-December 2019

1. Get fit

Work out with your JCCC colleagues at one of these employee-only fitness classes. There’s no deadline to sign up. Classes start the first week of the fall semester.

Small Group Personal Training
These sessions fill up fast and have a commitment to the full 8-week session. There are multiple time frame options. Email Ruth Dey at if  interested.

Faculty/Staff Lifetime Fitness Center Use

All current JCCC employees, their spouses, and college-age dependents are eligible to use the fitness center in the Gym. Employees may walk in with their JCCC ID card (NO orientation is required). Spouses and college-age dependents will need to contact Wellness Coordinator Ruth Dey at ext. 3217 or email in order to utilize the fitness center.

Indoor Track Use
JCCC employees may utilize the indoor track in the Gym by presenting their JCCC ID card to the check-in desk. Open Monday to Friday based on availability, please call ahead before arriving to make sure it is not closed for an event. Fieldhouse extension is 4635.

2. Check it out

Preventive check-ups are a critical component of good health. You can get a preventive dental, vision, hearing, medical, chiropractic or any well-check exam.

3. Track your intake

Eating a balanced diet is an essential part of good health. Join the JCCC Engagement CREW in September for one full week of nutrition tracking to raise awareness of the nutritional value of the food you eat. Use any tracking mechanism that’s convenient for you. Check out MyFitness Pal if you need a starting point.

4. Walk and talk

Schedule a walking meeting instead of meeting in an office, boardroom or coffee shop. Movement yields circulation; circulation creates energy. Rather than reach for the candy bowl to get a boost of energy, take a walk outside.

5. Join the JCCC 5K

Register today for the JCCC “Lace Up for Learning” 5K on the JCCC campus on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 8 a.m. Proceeds benefits JCCC student scholarships. You can register to run or walk at

6. Employee Assistance Program

JCCC’s Employee Assistance Program is a benefit available to all employees offered through New Directions Behavioral Health. 

Once on NDBH’s website, click “For Individuals and Families”. In the new window that opens, choose “Employee Assistance Program” from the drop-down menu. The company code/password is “JCCC”, then click “Log In”.
