Faculty and Staff Reflection and Renewal Retreat is March 1 – 3

You’re invited to join faculty and staff (both full-time, adjunct, and part-time) for a Reflection and Renewal Retreat, March 1 – 3, sponsored by JCCC’s Staff and Organizational Development. This retreat, held at the Heartland Retreat Center in Parkville, Missouri, provides an opportunity to set aside our usual distractions of life and focus on nurturing and connecting our inner selves with our many outer roles. The theme for this retreat is “Winter Impressions.”

We will gather Thursday, March 1 at 5 p.m. for dinner with the retreat ending Saturday, March 3, at noon before lunch. Private rooms and all meals will be provided for the duration of the two-night stay. The only “cost” is your personal commitment to this retreat experience, which will involve individual and collective reflection and reconnection with our own authentic selves in a relaxed and trustworthy community setting. Space is limited. Please register by Feb. 9. To register, or for more information, contact RubyRenee Wood, or Kena Zumalt,

Writing Assignment Autopsy

Did your last writing assignment flop? Have you just stopped giving writing assignments altogether? Attend the writing assignment audit from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 13 in the CoLab. This workshop will focus on helping you create assignments that maximize the benefits for your students while streamlining the process for you. Presenters will offer tips on how to create writing assignments that work, as well as conduct “autopsies” to analyze participants’ own writing assignments. All disciplines are welcome! Please bring an example of a writing assignment (or one that you’re developing) from your course. Contact Farrell Hoy Jenab if you have questions.
