What is Student Agency?

Student Agency is a collaborative initiative supported by the JCCC CoLab that connects students, faculty, and local businesses to bring their projects to life utilizing the state-of-the-art resources readily available on campus. Student Agency serves the college’s mission of inspiring learning to transform lives and strengthen communities by empowering students to build their career skills, community networks, and client solutions.

Student Agency is open to any student, with a minimum of 12 credit hours in their degree program, in any program at JCCC. Student Agency works on a variety of projects including many disciplines across campus. Student Agency has created websites, branding, YouTube video, logos, and conducted logistics analysis. There is no limit to what JCCC students can do.

“Working with the agency is like getting paid to take a class. You’re in charge of your own schedule. It teaches you how to make a timeline. You’re responsible for more than just your own success. Your teammates and your clients are all counting on you too, so it’s a nice way to start dipping your toe in and getting a feel for that responsibility. The jobs helped me develop practical skills and they helped me build my confidence.”
