NEW JCCC Art Vision Program 5-22-18, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

 

The new JCCC Art Vision program will include an intensive one-day symposium for college faculty and community partners, followed by a series of shorter workshops in the summer and the fall. Faculty participants from any discipline are welcome to attend, including Nursing, Biology, English, and Administration of Justice.

11am: guest speaker presentation M. Jordan Love

12:45 visiting artist activities in the galleries with Larry Thomas

2:45 small group reflection, share out

3:45-4PM concluding remarks

Learn how to use visual artwork in different ways with active learning exercises aligned with reading, writing, speaking and listening assignments. Study the artwork and learn strategies to hone communication skills that will help students work as a team, consider other perspectives, and stay objective in critical situations.

Academic Curator M. Jordan Love, PhD will present an interdisciplinary lecture titled “The Clinician’s Eye” based on her program at the Fralin Museum of Art, University of Virginia.

Artist and JCCC professor emeritus Larry Thomas will meet with participants and guide them in a drawing lesson to enhance their observational skills. No prior art experience is necessary.
