KAMATYC news

Two JCCC mathematics faculty presented at the spring 2013 conference of the Kansas Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges (KAMATYC), held at the Geary Campus of Cloud County Community College on March 2, 2013.  They were:

  • Chris Imm, professor of mathematics, who presented “Flipping the Classroom”
  • Steven Wilson, professor of mathematics, who presented “Cell Phone Apps in a Business Math Class”

Several JCCC mathematics faculty are serving or were newly appointed to serve in KAMATYC positions.  They were:

  • Brian Balman, appointed to be the Membership Committee chair
  • Mary Deas, re-elected last fall to the position of secretary
  • Chris Imm, re-elected last fall to the position of treasurer
  • Steven Wilson, appointed to be the Nominating Committee chair, and appointed to be a state delegate from Kansas to the AMATYC convention to be held in November, 2013, in Anaheim, California.

KAMATYC is the Kansas affiliate of the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges (AMATYC), whose focus is on the improvement of mathematics education in the first two years of college.
