The Primary Election is coming up on August 4th ! But, what is the Primary Election?

The Primary Election is when voters decide on their state and local party candidates. Basically, this is how voters narrow down the candidates to determine who will be on the official ballot in the General Election in November.

While the Presidential Primaries happened in March in Kansas and Missouri, deciding who is going to represent you in the state and national legislatures is equally, if not more important for effecting change in your community.

Here are important dates for this year’s elections in Kansas:

Make sure to register to vote by July 14 to vote in the Primary – you can register at ksvotes.org.

Important dates for Missouri:

July 8: Last day to register to vote for Primary Election [you can do that here]

July 22: Deadline to request a mail-in ballot [you can do that here]

August 4: Primary Election
