JCCC Women’s Volleyball Is Off To A Hot Start

Johnson County Community College’s volleyball team is off to a hot start, opening the season 4-0 at the NJCAA Opening Weekend Tournament in Rockford, Illinois. Since then, the Cavaliers have posted 13 wins while only dropping on match.  

The team is stacked with great players, including returning All-American Ava Esser and first-year Ashlynn Wilkowski. Esser currently has the 4th most kills per set on the KJCCC D2 Website.  

Wilkowski also cracked the top 25 at the 14 spot, solidifying her status as a top new player. According to the JCCC Volleyball Schedule, the Cavs take on a tough opponent in the Cowley Tigers on Wednesday, Sept. 16. Cowley enters the match 13-0 behind sophomore leader Teo Caken, who leads her squad with 159 kills.

JCCC Men’s Soccer 

The Johnson County Community College Men’s soccer team started their 50th  season 4-3,-1 with a 2-1-1 record at home.  

This past Saturday the team celebrated the JCCC Soccer 50th anniversary with a 5-2 drubbing of Allen County Community College, JCCC took home the win.

Freshman Cristiano Palacios Guerrero is leading the team in goals with 6 in 8 total games played. Sophomore Thomas House leads the team in assists with three, just ahead of sophomore Peyton McCawley and freshman Sarang Mathur, with two.  See more team statistics here. 

The Cavaliers have a good blend of local and out of state talent. Last season the team consisted of four non-Kansas or Missouri athletes, as opposed to 10 this season.  

This week the team is at home Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 7:30 p.m. against rival Kansas City Kansas Community College, and away Saturday, Sept. 19 at Pratt Community College.  

Being conference games, both will bring an added sense of excitement. Check out the team’s schedule for the remainder of the season here.

JCCC Women’s Soccer

The JCCC women’s soccer team has reached national prominence the past couple of years. Now a couple of games in, another great season appears to be ahead of them.  

During their 2025-26 season, the team went 21-0-1, losing to Jones College in the second round of the national tournament. That was only bested by making into the national finals the year before, losing to national champions, Northwest Mississippi Community College 2-0. That consistency is expected again this year and, so far, it is there. 

 According to the JCCC Athletics Page, the team has won 7 out of 8 games, scoring a total of 33 goals so far. The only loss came to Jones College in Florida. Their most recent win came against conference rival, Allen County, who they beat 7-0. 

 On Saturday, September 12, they play Allen County Community College on home turf.  

Wednesday, Sept. 16 is the next big test when they face rivals Kansas City Kansas Community College here on campus. The game starts at 5 p.m. KCKCC has not allowed a goal yet in going 5-0.
