Shepherd’s Center empowers mid-life and older adults to live healthy, engaged, and independent lives. They do this through programs and services that are dedicated to reducing the impact of social isolation on seniors’ physical, mental, and emotional health and wellbeing.
Their program, KC Rakes, partners with the community in order to rake yards for older adults who cannot physically do it themselves and cannot afford to pay for a service. The goal for this event is to help 50 homeowners in the Kansas City Metro area.
KC Rakes 2020 will be held on November 7th!
Time: 9:00 AM
Location: Central United Methodist Church – 5144 Oak St., Kansas City, MO 64112 (for volunteer check-in) and assigned homes.
In order to reach their goal, KC Shepherd’s Center needs many helping hands! Volunteers are needed for raking or to be designated drivers! Drivers will need to have a truck and will be responsible for picking up and loading waste bags onto their vehicle and drop-off the waste at a designated city required location. Raking teams will be given their yard assignments at check-in and usually takes 2-4 hours for a team to finish.
Rakes, gloves, and yard bags will be provided. However, you may bring your own tools as well. Bringing in leaf blowers will be greatly appreciated!
This event will follow CDC guidelines in order to provide a safe experience.
