Two-plus weeks into the semester, students are finally beginning to settle into classes and into their schedule for the next four months. So we decided to go out onto campus and ask some students about their feelings on how the year has started out.
“Well the beginning of the school year for me has been really good,” Asher Demo said. “I’ve been very organized, with everything and it hasn’t been too stressful.”
Jacob Nation, however, found that the year has begun with some struggles, but has faith it will grow better with time.
“This is my second week here and I’ve been enjoying it fairly well so far,” Nation said. “I find it a struggle to make friends because everyone’s so focused on their work, but I’ve joined a club and I’m going there tonight so hopefully something comes from that.”
For others this semester won’t be their first time in college, leaving students like Lucas Altenburg with a unique view of how this year has started.
“I’m old, 26 years old,” Altenburg said. “A long time ago, I went to MCC and a lot of the teachers just didn’t feel like they cared nearly as much as the teachers here do. Just that one change of energy, that the teachers really feeling like they care, made the world of difference.”
