Bye Bad Mental Health
Going into 2025, it has been a popular trend to pick your ins and outs for the year. College students can all agree that there is one thing that is totally out: bad mental health. After a long winter, college-aged students can experience poor mental health. Appalachian State University did a survey finding out that 25% of their students experience depression going into early spring.
JCCC has many outlets to help you with mental health and build a healthy outlook going into the rest of the semester. Its counseling center is available to all students. Under the personal counseling section on the JCCC website, there are specific resources for whatever you are dealing with, such as alcoholism or depression.
Mindsets can be set based on the people and relationships we surround ourselves with. There are plenty of college horror stories of people having horrible support systems around them throughout school. When it comes to having healthy relationships it’s a process but remember to be there for each other. Keep a good balance of spending time with the people you love and setting some time for yourself.

Needing Spring? At Least You Can Listen To It
College students love the weather turning to spring and the change in media that comes with it. It might snow this week, but we can still pretend spring is close through music. Out are the days of the sad slow stuff and in is music reflecting a more upbeat and happy feel. Here’s what to look for:
Songs like Hell N Back, Put Your Records On, and Pink + White should be in rotation. The carefree energy of these songs mixed with the hopeful and dreamlike lyrics can blend into such a feel-good-carefree listening experience. Nothing too heavy, just music to help you look forward to late night walks and feeling that nice crisp air. More songs by smaller artists include FAMJAM4000, Candy, and Cabin Fever hit the list bringing those same upbeat vibes any student might be looking for. If Rap is more your style consider, SWEET / I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DANCE, Sacrifices, and After The Storm, the laid back style most definitely still tracks with these.
