Women’s and Men’s Basketball Teams Both Going to National Championships

JCCC Women’s Basketball Takes the #4 Seed For the National Tournament

Despite losing in the tournament last week, the Cavalier Women’s Basketball team is the #4 seed for the NJCAA National Tournament, taking place in Joplin, MO. 

Last Friday, the Cavs faced off against Highland Community College once again, this time with higher stakes. In the NJCAA Region 6 Tournament, JCCC fell short by just five points, suffering a heartbreaking loss. 

“[Our] effort was really good,” said women’s basketball head coach, Ben Conrad. “Our kids played really hard. These nights will happen though, we really struggled to put the ball in the hole.” 

The Cavs will play at 9 a.m. (CT) on Tuesday, March 18. They will play the winner of the #13 vs. #20 game.

JCCC Men’s Basketball Snags the #11 Seed For the National Tournament 

Last Saturday, the men’s basketball team fell only one point short in their battle against KCKCC, in the NJCAA Region 6 Championship, with the final score being 75-74. Despite this tough loss, they need to quickly pull themselves up by their bootstraps and get ready to head to Danville, Ill. for the National Tournament that they have just claimed the #11 seed for. 

The Cavs will play at 8 p.m. (CT) on Monday, March 17 against Macomb Community College, the #6 seed.
