A heightened springtime is approaching, and the end of the Spring 2025 semester is headed this way, also. With that comes CavCraze, JCCC’s end of the semester function. It is basically an outside affair, and features myriad aspects of JCCC life – academics, clubs, etc.
One of the participating organizations of CavCraze is the Skeet Club. For those who are wondering if they have heard about a Skeet Club at JCCC, much less the meaning of a “skeet”, skeet shooting is somewhat different than going with a typical firearm and practicing projectiles at a shooting gallery. It involves shooting flying targets that, upon contact, explode into minor and mostly harmless shrapnel.
Kaleb Payne, President of the Skeet Club, said that his organization was ready for the CavCraze challenge.
“I plan on having something for CavCraze, probably like an info table,” Payne said. “On the info table I’ll have the clays that we shoot and a couple of flier handouts and something about what skeet shooting is.”
Alison Gibson, Student Activities Team Lead, spends significant time organizing and maintaining this event.
“At CavCraze I always look forward to the activities we will have for students,” Gibson said.
She also enjoys the ambience of the event every year.
“It’s partially a large outdoor fair or field day. Clubs, organizations, other schools, and academic departments gather at tables to inform students of applicable opportunities,” Gibson said.
The 2025 CavCraze will take place on May 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in COM Plaza & Fountain Square.
