After an astounding 2024-25 season and a new national title under their belt, the women’s basketball team has no intentions of easing off the gas in the next season. Reaching the top won’t be easy, and there will be a fresh set of new faces eager to prove themselves as valuable assets to the program. So, how does head coach Ben Conrad go about finding the right players?
“It’s never ending and our formula involves finding good people that will buy into being a part of something that is really hard and really rewarding,” Conrad said. “Then, from a basketball standpoint, it’s finding big, strong, fast kids that can pass, handle and shoot the ball.”
This strategy has seemed to work out so far, as many have described the Cavs being “extremely fast” on the court. As for shooting, the numbers speak for themselves, with a total points record of 2,847, averaging 81 points per game.
For now and next season, the Cavs have much work to do. Unfortunately, we will be losing key players like Taliyah Scott and Aa’Mya Stacker, but we will also have a new roster of driven and motivated players who are sure to be inspired by the success of those who were there before them.
“Our biggest challenge is staying hungry as a program, and not getting complacent after winning the big prize,” Conrad said.
