To Drop, or Not to Drop–That Is the Question

Dropping a class can be an intimidating prospect, and with being “Last day to drop with no refund and no ‘W’ on transcript,” for many classes, some students might be unsure of where to begin. First, consider whether you are receiving any form of financial aid. According to JCCC’s page on dropping credit classes, “If you are receiving financial aid and drop courses, you may be required to repay all or part of the financial aid disbursed for the semester.” For more information, visit the Dropping Classes and Repayment page on their website.

As for the drop deadlines, specifically for Fall 2025 credit classes, whether you can drop a class with a 100% refund, no refund and no “W” on your transcript, or with a “W” on your transcript, depends on when your class starts and ends, as well as how many weeks the course lasts. Refer to JCCC’s Fall Drop Dates page to determine which set of deadlines best describes the class you’re trying to drop.
