October always finds a way to sneak up on you–one moment it’s sunshine and sunglasses, the next it’s sweaters and cool, crisp air. Suddenly everything smells like fall–cinnamon and clove–and, honestly, nothing says fall quite like Halloween.

JCCC’s Student Senate and the Center for Student Involvement is brewing up something special this year: Trick or Treat for Kids! It’s happening Oct. 23, 5-7 p.m. in COM 155, and trust me–this is not your average candy haul. Picture a not-so-scary Halloween evening filled with laughter, creative crafts, sweet treats, and that nostalgic joy that makes you feel like a kid again. This event is for families, students, and anyone who wants to relive that childhood magic. The campus transforms into a mini Halloween wonderland.

Tony Wong, the Vice President of the Student Senate, shares his behind-the-scenes experience.

“It’s something that we do every year at JCCC,” Wong said. “All the things that go into [Trick or Treat for Kids]–the decorations, themes, brainstorming–we work together to make these things happen.”

It’s one of those events that just makes you smile, seeing kids in their costumes and parents snapping pictures.

“What I’m most looking forward to is seeing the kids with their smiling faces–so happy,” Wong said.

The event aims to provide a welcoming and safe space for families to enjoy the season together.

“It’s open to the community,” Wong said. “We have a safe, fun environment for families to bring their children to the evening.”

Like many events JCCC holds, we strive for a community you can count on. It’s about joy, laughter, and giving families a safe space to celebrate.

Whether you come with your little sibling, your friends, or just your Halloween spirit, this event is a reminder of what makes this season so special–warmth, even in the chill of October nights.
