Spooky season is officially in full swing, and the Honors Student Association is showing their Halloween spirit by hosting their annual pumpkin carving event on Monday, Oct. 27 at 1-3:30 p.m. in the Colab (OCB 100). This event will be open for all students, not just HSA students.

“During the event, the students can come and carve the pumpkins. They have to be carved, they can’t be painted for sustainability purposes,”  said Melissa Nolan, the High Impact Practices Specialist for HSA.

Along with pumpkin carving, students can expect a bake sale, a photo booth, hot apple cider, and other small Halloween-themed activities. This year, the Bowlin Farm, located in Olathe, is providing and delivering about 50-60 pumpkins to the HSA for the event at a discounted price.

The Johnson County Student Veterans of America (JCSVA) will be hosting a pumpkin carving contest on Oct. 29th from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the COM Atrium. Any pumpkins carved at the HSA event can enter their pumpkin into the contest. There will be prizes for the pumpkins, with 1st place: $50, 2nd place: $30, and 3rd place: $20.
