JCCC’s student lounge is saying “happy Halloween” and getting into the festive spirit on Oct. 29-30 from 4-6 p.m. The gaming space of the student lounge, GEB 154, will be closed and turned into a haunted house featuring about eight differently themed rooms. Students will receive a key when they check in, which will work as a souvenir and as the key to the room they will be “staying in.”
“They can explore around and see through environmental storytelling the story of a nun that died there,” said Joshua Kawase, the Student Life Ambassador.
For the themed rooms, students can expect a child’s room, areas of “the convent,” and an exorcism. Kawase has made a playlist of “geeky horror music” for the spooky experience. Make sure to stay on your toes–there will be jumpscares throughout the haunted house!
“If someone gets too freaked out, there’s going to be a safe word. I don’t know if that’s actually going to happen because, honestly, this is a haunted house that’s being set up in the middle of campus,” Kawase explained.
The student lounge staff is working hard creating temporary walls, DIY decorations, and more. For that reason, the gaming side of the student lounge will be closed starting next week for setup.
The student lounge works to provide our campus with fun and connection-building experiences throughout the year. Along with their big event, the Haunted Lounge, they also have many other events coming up. One of them is Caddy Issues, on Nov. 14 from 12-3 p.m. Multiple “over the top” mini golf courses will be set up around the student lounge. Those who attend can expect “mini-mini golf,” “mega-mini golf,” mini golf while wearing “drunk googles,” and more.
