Let’s be honest, filling out the FAFSA every semester can be a struggle–and college expenses can be even more overwhelming. But do not fear, for Finance Night is here to help connect you to the resources you need for a successful and cost-effective college experience. On Wednesday, Nov. 19, you will learn how to jumpstart your degree and make your time here matter.

Are you eager to learn more about transferring, but don’t know where to look? During Finance Night, there will be meetings with experts from colleges like KU and K-State, where you can learn about what they offer in breakout sessions, where the entire Financial Aid Department will be available to assist you in any way they can.

Haley Crawford, Financial Aid Communications Coordinator and a former college advisor, offers her perspective on the upcoming event, drawing on her deep commitment to helping students navigate their educational journeys.

“We’re doing things differently this year, compared to last year. Instead of just focusing on FAFSA, we have broadened [Finance Night] to give students an event worth showing up to… we help anybody in the community, not just students attending JCCC,” Crawford said.

Whether you are just getting started or near completion, the Financial Aid Department can help throughout the entire process. They are working to ensure everyone has the chance to access low-cost options. This event is covering an array of scholarship and funding opportunities, early college programs and organizations, including:

  • Greater Kansas City Community Foundation
  • Great Jobs KC
  • Kansas Board of Regents and
  • JCCC STEM Scholars Program

One goal of the event is to bring awareness to scholarships.

“That’s what makes me so passionate, because for students, scholarships can help fill the gap… you’re already here receiving a more affordable education. Make it count, because it can propel you forward,” Crawford said.

Get a head start and explore the abundance of resources to help you plan your college journey. Join them in the Hudson Auditorium, located in RC 101 on Wednesday, Nov. 19. Doors will open at 4 p.m. and the event will end at 7:30 p.m.. This free event can help one connect, learn, and plan their future. This event is open to all current and prospective students and their families. For more information, please visit the JCCC Events Page.
