3/6/2026: JCCC Women’s Basketball Starts Postseason Hot

This afternoon, the Cavs won their first playoff game against Labette Community College in Kansas City, Kan. 82-63. Freshman Anonda Ford had a stand-out game, putting up a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Layla Scott also made an impressive performance, sinking four three-pointers and five field-goals.

The women’s team has just finished their 3rd consecutive undefeated season, and are aiming to become back-to-back national champs.

“We are getting the right kinda players that fit into not only how we play, but how we operate. Your culture has to be on very solid footing to maintain this consistency,” says women’s basketball head coach Benjamin Conrad entering the postseason.

Consistency is key, and the women’s basketball team has shown they know that for a third season in a row. We know that this program holds the capacity to have outstanding seasons and sit at the top of the conference year after year, so what feels different this time?

“I would say what feels a little different this time is just how smooth things have gone from start to finish. Aside from a few injuries and sicknesses, we’ve had a pretty clean run during the regular season,” says Conrad.

Najya O’neal made an incredible effort for Labette, giving JCCC a run for their money by putting up 28 points by sinking four threes and 10 field-goals.

Stay tuned for updates on the women’s basketball postseason journey.
