Almost every movie that has ever included spring break sees the characters ending up in Miami, or anywhere with a beach for that matter. But for those who end up staying here in Kansas, don’t fret–there are plenty of fun things to do during spring break in Johnson County and Kansas City.

Are you an arcade type of person? Be sure to check out the new Andretti Indoor Karting and Games, Dave and Busters, BRKThrough or Advent Health Sports Park at BluHawk. The activities at the Advent Health Sports Park also include ice skating, bowling, laser tag and more.

Do you want to try to get into nature more during break? Stop by the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, Heritage Park, Kill Creek Park, Lexington Lake Park or any of the many parks listed on the Johnson County website.

Maybe you want to unlock your inner artistic side? Paint ceramic pieces at Paint Glaze and Fire. Creative Culture Studio offers things like pottery painting, a plant bar, candle making, a bead bar, bath salts and more. Moxie Art Studio offers things like rubber stamping, watercolor, macrame and so on. For art admirers, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art offers free admission every day.

For restaurants with some action, check out Craft Putt, which offers mini golf, craft beer and food. Chicken and Pickle offers pickleball, ping pong, shuffleboard and cornhole; even dogs are welcome. For dinner and a show, New Theatre & Restaurant is currently performing “Elvis and Elton.”

Are you wanting to be a homebody this break? Check out movies or books from your local public library, or stop by local bookstores like Monarch Books & Gifts or Seven Stories.

Whether you choose to stay home and enjoy the school-free week or you decide to enjoy the many things to do here in Kansas, hopefully this spring break guide helps you make the most of it.
