UPDATE 11:56 a.m. Chris Gray, Vice President of Strategic Communications for JCCC has confirmed that they are aware of the situation.

A JCCC Police Department officer has been charged in connection with an alleged assault that took place in Kansas City, MO, in 2024. 

Prosecutors charged Rodrigo Sanchez-Flores, 27, of De Soto, Kansas, with one count of first-degree rape and one count of first-degree sodomy in Jackson County Circuit Court earlier this month. 

The JCCC Police Department did not provide a statement about Sanchez-Flores’ status with the college when asked and referred the matter to Chris Gray, Vice President, Strategic Communications for JCCC.  

Gray did not immediately respond to an inquiry about Sanchez-Flores’ status with the JCCC Police Department on Friday morning.  

According to court documents, on September 29, 2024, the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department responded to a disturbance in Jackson County, Missouri. The investigation later revealed that the victim was raped and sodomized by the suspect Rodrigo Sanchez-Flores.  

According to those same documents, the victim stated that she did not remember leaving the club with Sanchez-Flores, but video surveillance indicated she was too intoxicated to consent.  

In a news release Thursday, a Sexual Assault Forensic Exam (SAFE) exam identified the presence of male DNA; the analysis found a very strong connection that the defendant was a contributor of the DNA.  

According to the Jackson County Prosecutor, Sanchez-Flores’ bond was set at $100,000 cash-only.  

He has not been released from custody at this time.
