OK, who doesn’t love puppies and kittens. Great Plains SPCA needs help transporting pets for a few events coming up! You know you want to hang out with some adorable cats and dogs and help them find homes for the holidays. Here are the details:
Pizza and Ice Cream Fundraiser!
Date: Tuesday, November 28
Time: 5 pm – 7 pm, transport volunteers need to be at the shelter by 4:30 pm
Location:
Pizzeria Locale – 11875 W. 95 St. Overland Park, KS
Freezing Moo – 11885 W. 95th St. Overland Park, KS
Volunteers Needed: 3 (Merriam)
Volunteer Role: This Giving Tuesday, 50% of proceeds from both eateries will support shelter pets! Transport and care for one dog each and engage customers outside between Pizzeria Locale (fundraiser from 4 pm – 9 pm) and their neighbor Freezing Moo (fundraiser from 11 am – 10 pm). Encourage families who attend either location to mention us when they order, and to consider adopting a shelter pet from Great Plains SPCA!
Naughty or Nice: Holiday Fundraiser
Date: Saturday, December 2
Time: 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm
Location: The Arts Asylum
1000 E. 9th St., Kansas City, MO
Volunteers Needed: 8
Volunteer Role: Calling all cat volunteers! The Arts Asylum is hosting a Christmas show featuring a cat café to support our spay and neuter initiatives! We are looking for volunteers to:
-Transport a litter of kittens from Independence to the event and keep watch over them
-Collect money and sell tickets from 4 pm – 5 pm
-Collect money at the cat café from 4 pm – 6:30 pm
-Collect money from meet-and-greet cast photos from 4 pm – 5 pm
-Write down bid numbers during paddle raise portion of the event and collect pledge payments after the show
-Sell retail and answer questions about all we do
Great KC Pet Expo
Date: Saturday, December 2 – Sunday, December 3
Time:
Saturday: 8 am (set up) – 1 pm
1 pm – 6 pm (pack up retail for the night)
Sunday: 8:30 am (set up) – 12:30 pm
12:30 pm – 4:30 pm (tear down and return materials to Merriam shelter)
Location: KCI Expo Center

Volunteers Needed: 15
Volunteer Role: Represent Great Plains SPCA and KC’s largest celebration of people and pets, the Great KC Pet Expo! We need Independence volunteers to transport three dogs from 12 pm – 3 pm on Saturday and Sunday. We are also looking for volunteers to sell retail and help answer questions about the organization.
