News item from Maureen Fitzpatrick:
Syllabus Save-the-date: Once Upon an Artifact (9-17-19)
On Tuesday, September 17, JCCC faculty are collaborating with the Johnson County Arts &Heritage Center to host Once Upon an Artifact, a night at the JCAHC museum (the former King Louie entertainment center at 88th and Metcalf). Admission will be free and open to JCCC students, faculty, staff, and their families. The event will feature short presentations by JCCC faculty on the museum’s many artifacts, including the special exhibit Expanding Oz. The event will run between 5:30-8:00 (it is an open event, so people move freely). Our own Danny Alexander is scheduled to be among the presenters.
If your students are working on profiles or other place-based papers next fall semester, this event can give them some inspiration. More information can be found here http://www.jccc.edu/events/2019/0917-once-upon-artifact.html A link to a suggested reservation application will appear before fall classes to estimate the rough number of attendees (no tickets or ID required—but there is a cookie order to be placed). Attendance “receipts” will be available at the event for students whose instructors offer any kind of credit for participating. If you have questions, please contact one of the members of the planning committee, Farrell Jenab, Beth Gulley, or Maureen Fitzpatrick.
