  • What is Gemini? Gemini is a generative AI chatbot that creates new content, such as text, code, and images, based on your instructions. It’s excellent for tasks that require drafting, summarizing, and brainstorming.
  • Accessing Gemini: Go to gemini.google.com and sign in with your JCCC Stumail account. Our institution provides enterprise-grade data protection, meaning your data is private and not used to train AI models.
  • Prompt Engineering: The quality of Gemini’s output depends on the quality of your prompt. Learn to write clear and specific instructions to get the best results.

NotebookLM is an AI-powered research and notetaking assistant that helps you quickly understand and work with your own documents.

Getting Started: The Basics of NotebookLM

  • What is NotebookLM? NotebookLM is a tool that acts as your personal research assistant. You upload your own documents—like articles, PDFs, notes, and transcripts—and it helps you understand them better. It’s excellent for synthesizing information from multiple sources.
  • Accessing NotebookLM: Go to notebooklm.google.com and sign in with your college Google account.
  • Upload Your Sources: Start by uploading documents you need to read or understand, such as a scholarly article, grant guidelines, or meeting notes.
  • Interact with Your Sources: Use the chat feature to ask questions about your documents, like “What are the key findings in this paper?” or “Summarize the main arguments from these documents.”
