JCCC began Exercise is Medicine Month with a one-mile Dean’s Walk, led by Dr. Lenora Cook, Dean of Health Care, Public Safety & Wellness, and President Dr. Andy Browne.
Created by the American College of Sports Medicine to encourage regular physical activity on college campuses, Exercise is Medicine on Campus includes 220 participating colleges and universities. JCCC is one of the 158 that earned a Gold Campus designation in 2022.
Throughout October, the Student Wellness program is hosting blood drives, strength challenges, and activities like Lace Up for Learning for students, faculty, and staff. More information about these events and activities can be found on the Student Wellness website.
Student Wellness also offers an open weight room and these group classes throughout the Fall 2022 semester: Hip-Hop Fitness, WERQ, Meditation and Mindfulness, and Abs and Core.
The JCCC Student Wellness program also offers free access to the JCCC Barbara Gill Lifetime Fitness Center for all JCCC students and employees. The fitness center is located in GYM 103 and is open seven days a week, located at GYM 103.
