Students got to experience a haunted house for free, hosted by Student Life. The Halloween-themed event was held Oct. 24 to Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Student Lounge in COM 322.
“We’re just here to provide events for students to enjoy,” Kristin Boeckmann, Student Life ambassador, said. “Haunted houses are so popular, but they also cost a lot of money. So, we thought that it would be fun to offer this to students.”
The haunted lounge is an annual event with this year’s theme, farm. The haunted farm had spooky decorations, a corn maze, and mannequins. This theme originated from the Student Life Ambassadors after last year’s haunted lounge.
“We wanted to tell a story this time. We thought of a maze initially and then thought wow that could be super creepy,” Boeckmann said.
Students were encouraged to go in groups into the haunted lounge. Lanterns were given out to help navigate through the maze; then participants were taken through the maze two times.
There were several rules for the haunted lounge. No touching the actors, no use of flashlights, of phones and no standing still. Students were only allowed to use the lantern that they were given. Because of the use of strobe lights in the lounge, a trigger warning was provided for people who are sensitive to flashing lights.
Students still have one more day to go through the haunted farm, those interested can RSVP here.
