Technology,Information rights and Agriculture

I believe when you buy a vehicle and assume responsibility for it, you should be able to fix it, or choose who fixes it.  Unfortunately, in the case of iPhones and agricultural technology (seed and tractors – looking at you Monsanto and John Deere), we don’t own those things we bought.  Nor do we own the full profit of our labor with those resources. That offends me.  Kansas is now considering legislation.

the state legislature of Kansas is considering Right to Repair legislation. But we need your help to get the bill passed.

The Fair Repair Act, HB 2122, is simple. It requires manufacturers to provide owners and independent repair businesses with fair access to service information and reasonably priced replacement parts.

There’s an interesting discussion on reddit, and I liked CVNuetron’s comment here.
