Why Health IT ?

HIGH-DEMAND, IMPORTANT WORK

Looking for a career using your technology skills and your ability to help others? You’ve found it: JCCC’s Health Information Systems Program (HCIS).

With a degree or certificate in HCIS, you’ll assist medical professionals by using the crucial computer systems and health IT technology that run their business.

The vast healthcare industry needs professionals to manage the enormous volume of patient and institutional information and data. Health information Specialists help health information administrators in organizing and managing records, storing medical records, analyzing data and creating reports.

BUILT-IN JOB SECURITY

As the population ages, there will be an increasing need for healthcare professionals. That demand translates into career opportunities for Health Information Systems professionals.

The median annual wage for healthcare information technology jobs in the U.S. was $75,755* (an average of $36.43 per hour) in April 2021. * ZipRecruiter, Using ADP employee payroll data, April 2021
