The Merriam Marketplace is located off of Merriam Drive and Johnson Drive. It is one of the smaller farmers market’s in the metro area, but great for social distancing and getting fresh produce.

With COVID-19 guidelines set in place the Merriam Marketplace remains a safe place to visit even during a pandemic, masks are required. The market is open Saturdays from seven to one in the afternoon.

The Sweet Bunny Farm greets customers as they head into the marketplace the farm is run by Melinda and Neil Hartel, a local couple that only sells what they grow themselves.

A little further down the way two women run a booth purely dedicated to transforming jean fabric into purses, masks, and much more. Shown here is one of the women who runs the booth, Aggie Dillard.

Probably one of the most well-known farmer’s markets in the metro area is the City Market. This market has the most diversity of booths while also having the greatest number of customers.

COVID-19 guidelines are once again set in place for this market, though rules are not always followed by customers. While it is required to wear a mask, poor social distancing is practiced. So, if you are a high-risk individual this might not be the best market to go to.

To limit the traffic of the farmer’s market customers are urged to only travel through the market in one-way routes, with hope to limit foot traffic in the area.

One of the most popular items at any farmers market is flowers. Several booths at the City Market are dedicated to producing massive beautiful bouquets. The fun part is watching a bouquet get made right in front of you.

The Overland Park Farmer’s Market is open on Wednesdays from 7:30 to 5:00 P.M. and Saturday’s from 7:30 to 1:00 P.M. During the spring the market made sure to take the safety of its vendors and customers into account as they only offered drive-thru pick up however, as time has gone by the market is open once again following COVID-19 regulations.
